𝐇𝐊𝐈𝐂𝐏𝐀 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐣𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 From 25–27 May, a delegation from the Institute, led by President Edward Au, Vice President Stephen C K LAW and Jasmine SY Lee, Immediate Past President Roy Leung, and Chief Executive & Registrar Margaret Chan, visited Beijing to engage with key Mainland regulatory and professional bodies. The delegation met with seven organizations, including the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China (MoF), Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA), China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), IFRS Foundation Beijing Office, and more. The visit reinforced strong collaboration, with insightful discussions focusing on key areas: 🔄 The convergence of Hong Kong & Mainland accounting standards 🌱 Sustainable development initiatives 🧠 Talent attraction and nurturing 💻 Digital transformation in the profession 🌐 Strengthening Hong Kong’s role in international accounting affairs To further strengthen connections, the HKICPA hosted a reception dinner, bringing together around 80 representatives from regulatory bodies, members, Qualification Programme (QP) graduates, authorized employers and partner universities. The event provided a valuable platform for networking and exchanging insights on supporting members pursuing opportunities in the Mainland. Over four days, the delegation achieved significant milestones in economic and trade cooperation, signing 59 MOUs and agreements to enhance strategic partnerships across sectors and issues. 🤝📜   The delegation included more than 30 distinguished figures from Hong Kong, including President Edward Au, as well as over 20 representatives from various industries in Mainland China. These sectors covered innovation and technology, new energy, manufacturing, real estate, conglomerates, and construction, representing an international business network that synergizes the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with key Mainland regions. 🌏🔗   Middle Eastern countries, driven by strategic plans like "Qatar National Vision 2030" and "Kuwait Vision 2035", are accelerating economic diversification, focusing on financial services, digital economy, and smart city development.
