Application and registration


 

Stage 1: Student Application for the New QP (Timetable)

Follow the user guide and start the application.  Please make sure that your application is submitted on or before the application deadline.

<IMPORTANT>

  • You should read the user guide and fee schedule carefully to start your application.
  • If you need to register as QP student under the corresponding agreement of the Institute's recognised overseas bodies, you should check for the requirements and eligibility before application.
  • The following candidates should contact the Qualifications Assessment Team at students.reg@hkicpa.org.hk before application:
    > existing student but wish to apply for additional exemption/ changing entry route; or
    > removed student due to 10-year/ 5-year time bar rule and wish to register a new studentship; or
    > former student/ graduate of the HKIAAT.

 

Self-assessment:

You have to decide which Associate Module(s) you wish to apply exemption.  You are required to conduct a self-assessment based on the competency level and syllabus coverage of the courses you have completed and upload all relevant supporting documents to substantiate your application.  The syllabus and the required learning outcomes of Modules 1 – 10 can be found here.  You may consult your education provider about the exempted modules available for those programmes accredited by the Institute.  Please note that it is at the Institute's discretion to grant exemption.

 

Application result:

Upon receipt of the required items, an assessment result notification on module exemptions will be issued to you by email.  You should response to our assessment result in due course in order to process for the registration as a QP student.  If you do not receive the email, please contact the Qualifications Assessment Team at students.reg@hkicpa.org.hk for assistance.

Stage 2: Student Registration

In order to become a registered QP student, you have to confirm acceptance of the application result within the prescribed time limit and settle the exemption fee and annual fee as appropriate.  Thereafter, you will be successfully registered as a student of the Institute and are allowed to enroll in the QP modules.

 

Important points to note:

  1. All applications MUST ensure that all uploaded documents are true and correct copies of the original, true documents.  Otherwise, providing false documents is a violation of both criminal and civil law, for which the applicant will be held responsible.

  2. Applicants who have completed the PRC CPA Uniform Examination - Under the agreement signed between the Hong Kong Institute of CPAs and CICPA, Hong Kong Institute of CPAs will forward the following documents to CICPA for certification purpose: "Certificate of Completion" (全科合格證) of the PRC CPA Uniform Examination (全國統一考試), a photo and identity card / passport copy, which must be marked “COPY” across the image of the identity document.

  3. Failure to submit all the required items (e.g. transcripts, syllabus, fee(s)) will cause rejection of your application or exemption applied and you may not be able to enroll in the coming examination session in time.  All fees paid are neither refundable nor transferable.  

  4. Submission of application - The application and required items must be submitted to the application system by the application deadline.  Application would be deemed unsuccessful and all fees paid are non-refundable if applicants fail to submit the required items for assessment within 6 months from the application date.  Applicants are required to submit a new application and provide supporting documents together with the appropriate fees again should they wish to re-apply.

  5. Acknowledgement - Applicants will receive an email notification to acknowledge their submission of application.  If you do not receive the email, please contact the Qualifications Assessment Team at students.reg@hkicpa.org.hk for assistance.

 
 
Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance:
Your personal data collected from this application will be used for the purposes relating to the administration of the Professional Accountants Ordinance and Professional Accountants By-laws. In addition, Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants ("the Institute") may use the collected data for statistical research and analysis, and for keeping students informed of its services. The provision of personal data by means of this application is voluntary. However, insufficient information may result in rejection of an application. Such data collected may be accessible by the Institute's officers, persons or committees processing the registration, examination and related matters.  The data may also be accessible by or transferred to any authorized personnel including (but not limited to) agents, contractors, consultants, or advisers performing any statutory or administrative functions on behalf of the Institute.

Unless otherwise agreed, hard copies of any documents containing your personal data that you provide to the Institute will become the property of the Institute and will not be returned to you. The Institute will destroy any documents it holds in accordance with its internal policy and applicable laws.
